Tripp McCormond

Ray and Mimi own this historic property, located in Chester Springs, PA. Many of the original buildings date back to 1740.

The gorgeous flowerbeds and flourishing herb gardens add to the historic appearance of the property. However, all the lush vegetation also attracts the deer that abound in the nearby woods!

In 2007, the McCormond’s called on AK Fencing, to help with their deer problem. We proposed a rustic post-and-rail fence, with a black vinyl-coated wire mesh 8ft high. They were both very pleased with the sleek design of the powder-coated pipe, and felt that the mesh fence maintained the open feel of their back yard.

Several years later, the McCormond’s property was featured in the Chester County Historic House Tour. Ray, and experienced engineer and woodworker, decided to design a custom fence for the front yard, to improve the appearance of the property. After designing the 6ft Western Red Cedar privacy fence with alternating width boards and sturdy 6×6 posts, Ray gave us a call.

We delivered the boards a few weeks prior to installation. Using a special bit in his electric router, Ray put a beaded edge on the boards, unquestionable enhancing the historic appearance of the fence boards. We installed the varying-width fence boards, randomly placing them between the posts to give the fence a character all its own.

The McCormonds loved the fence, and were confident that their property would be a huge hit for the historic tour.

Ray says: “We Love the way it turned out! The quality of your material is superior to any I have seen.”
